19 March - 4 April 2020
Renowned British painter and two-time BP Award shortlister
(2006 & 2015) Paul Wright will unveil a stunning new body of
work that examines and explores his views on
the influences of his family and his future.
The artist will allow audiences to enter spaces never before depicted, including Wright's own childhood memories and intimate portraits of his children. Each canvas presents its maker as holder of a different role, all current and deserving of articulation in paint. Wright paints as father, former child, husband, human, and thinker among many other positions. The exhibition is a celebration of years gone and years coming, marking the artist's first solo exhibition in three years. An opportunity, as Wright puts it, to think deeply and deliberately across a cohesive body of work, demonstrating growth and maturity in style and thought. 'With Time' delivers this and more, weaving in humour, colour, and optimism to the more serious questions posed about personal and collective histories and futures.
