Thompson's Gallery Aldeburgh was established in 1982 by John and Sue Thompson.
Aldeburgh is a beautiful seaside town on the unspoilt East Suffolk coast. In the 16th Century Aldeburgh was a thriving port and shipbuilding area, becoming a fishing village and seaside resort in the early 19th Century.
The composer Benjamin Britten was inspired by the vast skies and moody seas of the Suffolk coast, and in 1948, along with singer Peter Pears and writer Eric Crozier, he founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival. Their lifelong friend, Mary Potter is one of the most celebrated artists of her period.
In Aldeburgh we have up to six shows a year from one-man to mixed. Our most celebrated show is our Annual exhibition which coincides with the Aldeburgh Music Festival where we show over a hundred respected 20th Century artists.
Please contact us for further information regarding upcoming exhibitions.
