Christine Slade was born in Hertfordshire and trained in the creative department of Dorland Advertising in London before leaving to get married.

Christine’s husband introduced her to the beauties of East Anglia in the 1960’s. Visiting Mersea Island, she was captivated by the meeting of land and sea. She has exhibited regularly in the area since the family moved to Colchester in 1982. Christine joined the East Anglian Group of Marine Artists in 1984.

Christine decided to become a full-time artist in 1988, with work ranging from commercial design and architects’ visuals to her preferred medium of pastels. Incorporating the vast skies of East Anglia with the many creeks that invade the land, she produces pastels, detailed pencil drawings and limited edition prints depicting the vessels that move in this unique environment.

Christine is a regular exhibitor with Thompson’s Gallery.
