Paris based photographer Claire de Virieu has always has an emotional connection with nature, and a very strong desire to translate it.
“Gardens are a subject where contrivance is excluded; the photographer does not intervene; only observes, focusing on the instant magic where light creates the image; where the garden reveals a little of its soul”.
These three stunning photographs of the Luxembourg Gardens indicate just this and the way that Claire takes her photographs, traversing the area little by little, waiting for the right light. Light is the material of her work, much like stone is to a sculptor, or colour to a painter.
“Gardens are much like mirrors that reflect the city’s culture, spirit, and in particular its beauty”.
