Born in 1949 in London, the daughter of jazz expert Percy Pring, Dale was given an appreciation of the arts at a young age. Opting for the visual rather than the musical, she remembers feeling profoundly inspired by the exhibitions to which she was taken as a child. A visit to Kenwood House on her tenth birthday is where she recalls seeing her very first Rembrandt. Two years later she enrolled in weekend classes and later attended Wimbledon School of Art and Waltham Forest.
During the 1980s, Dale exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, whilst also showing her work in major commercial galleries in London and New York. In 1986 her paintings were on display in the New English Art Club and International Contemporary Art Fair, amongst others. In 1987, her work was selected for the National Arts Offices’ Schemes in the Ministry for Arts, London Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise. In the same year Dale exhibited in the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Gallery, Osaka in Tokyo.
For ten years, Dale lived and worked in California, with exhibitions at Gerald Peters Gallery, Santa Fe; Louis Newman Galleries, Beverly Hills; Sydne Bernard Gallery, Los Angeles. She also exhibited in several London galleries including Piccadilly Gallery, Henry Wyndham Fine Art, Crane Kalman Gallery, Cork Street Fine Art, The New Grafton Gallery, the New English Art Club and Jorgensen Fine Art, Dublin.
Dale returned to England in 1998 and continues to exhibit both home and abroad. Her work is also represented in collections including Princess Cruise Lines, A. Oppenheimer, Chelsea Arts Club, Dallas Museum of Art, Henry Wyndham (Sothebys), H. M. Ministry of Arts and Readers Digest NY.
The artist’s inspiration comes from a ceaseless interest in the world around her, both in its physical and psychological aspects. The seemingly mundane, everyday objects of a meal are transformed through her amazing craft into fascinating elements of a larger drama.
