James Fullarton: Shelter-in-Paint

JAMES FULLARTON: SHELTER-IN-PAINT
24 November 2020 - 19 December 2020

London

Shelter-in-Paint' is a milestone moment, marking James Fullarton's 20th solo exhibition with Thompson's Galleries since the painter's debut exhibition in 2000 at our Dover Street Gallery.

This exhibition's title points to the most pivotal year history has seen in a generation, an oil painter's manifestation of the 'work from home' mandate.

Always finding inspiration from life, Fullarton brings his bountiful palette and expressive strokes to every surface, articulating a kaleidoscope of colours in his tended flowers, the leaves, branches and sheds of the garden. Every composition seizes upon the opportunity to quite literally explore one's own backyard– a universe all its own, interactions legally enforced.

Lewis Hazelwood-Horner RBA: Real Life

LEWIS HAZELWOOD-HORNER RBA: REAL LIFE
3 June 2020 - 19 June 2020

London

Lewis Hazelwood-Horner RBA returns to Thompson’s Gallery London for his second solo exhibition titled ‘Real Life’, after a remarkable debut in 2019 as ‘One to Watch’. Born and raised in North London, Hazelwood-Horner is the youngest-ever Threadneedle Prize Winner (2016) and inductee to the Royal Society of British Artists (2018).

His practice pays homage to country and capital by documenting British lifestyle and social rituals in oil. Delivering a unique narrative with every composition, this body of work was painted in real time with its subjects and environments to capture motion, expression and storyline in paint. Veering from the modern painting habit of relying upon photography for reference, Hazelwood-Horner is Britain's youngest plein air figurative painter.

The exhibition will be online from 3rd-19th June 2020.
