Sue Read studied painting at the High Wycombe School of Art and the West of England College of Art. She has painted professionally since 1980, exhibiting in many galleries in England and abroad, and has won several awards including:
The Linda Blackstone Award
The Llewelyn Alexander Gallery Award
The Evening Standard Award.
Working in pure transparent watercolour, her subjects are selected for their translucency, lustre and subtle colour - antique porcelain, shells, eggs, glass and fruit.
She was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1985, and has served as a member of the Council.
