About

Mona Jupp was born and educated in Sweden, continuing her art education in Britain including study under S. Clifford Smith, one of the Great Bardfield group of artists. She has exhibited in both countries including one-man shows, has works in private collections in Britain and U.S.A. as well as Scandinavia and has paintings purchased by art societies, public bodies and offices.

Much of Jupp's earlier work was inspired by the northern forests and the sometimes almost mystical natural remains of more primitive times. In her recent paintings references to nature are still present, but form, pattern, texture and atmosphere are foremost. She works in oil, acrylic and mixed media.

After moving to East Anglia she has exhibited in mixed exhibitions in Deben Gallery, Woodbridge, Steeple End Gallery, Halesworth, Quay Gallery, Sudbury, Boundary Gallery, Cransford, Taplin Gallery, Woodbridge, Neville Gallery, Canterbury, Clockhouse, Snape and Ipswich Art Society where she is a member. She has been showing her work at Thompson's Gallery in Aldeburgh and London since 1999.

In 1991 she was the prize-winner in the Laing Competition Eastern Region; exhibiting at the Mall Galleries, London. She has also had paintings selected by the Art Critic and Arts Editor of the Spectator 'Liz Anderson' of the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London 2013.
