A postgraduate from St Martin's School of Art (1985) Rory McLauchlan now lives and works in Scotland. He has exhibited widely across the UK.He has won The Cargill Prize at the Royal Institute of Glasgow and exhibited at both The RSA in Edinburgh and at the Paisley Art Institute.

Primarily a landscape painter Rory paints with bright colours and vigour. He goal is to capture the "essence and character of a particular place through the spontaneous use of colour, line and shape to create new forms". He enjoys the unpredictable nature of paint which leads to more intentional forms and subjects. Occasionally moving into the abstract Rory's paintings are always evolving.
