About

Scottish artist Mike Healey studied under John Cunningham both at school and at Glasgow School of Art, winning the Haldane Drawing Prize and the Leverhulme Travelling Scholarship.

In the early 1980s he taught at the School of Art and worked there until 1997. In 2003 Mike was awarded the Chair of Professor of Art and Design at the University of Lincoln.

Mike has exhibited extensively in London, New York,  Philadelphia, Maryland, Bermuda, Japan and in his native Scotland. His rich still life and evocative, spontaneous ‘plein air’ paintings of the highlands and islands carry forward a strong Scottish colourist tradition into the present.

There are several paintings in public and private collections. Coutts Bank, Bank of Scotland and The Royal Bank of Scotland have paintings by Mike Healey in their collections. Art Museums in Bermuda, Argyll and Bute and the European Parliament have artwork examples in their collections.
