Mike Healey – Artist Biography

Scottish artist Mike Healey studied at the renowned Glasgow School of Art, where he was awarded the Haldane Drawing Prize and the Leverhulme Travelling Scholarship. He was mentored by the acclaimed painter John Cunningham, both during his school years and at the Glasgow School of Art.

In the early 1980s, Healey joined the teaching staff at the Glasgow School of Art, where he remained until 1997. His academic career continued with distinction, culminating in his appointment as Professor and Chair of Art and Design at the University of Lincoln in 2003.

Mike Healey has exhibited widely, with shows in London, New York, Philadelphia, Maryland, Bermuda, Japan, Australia, and throughout Scotland. His work—ranging from vibrant still lifes to evocative plein air landscapes of the Scottish Highlands and Islands—reflects and continues the legacy of the Scottish Colourist tradition.
