Renato Meziat Brazilian , b. 1952
Renato Pereira da Silvia Meziat was born in Rio de Janeiro July 12th, 1952. He first came to the United States to study music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. During his music studies he came to the realization that he was more interested in the visual arts and, upon his return to Brazil, dedicated himself full time to painting.
Meziat paints in a variety of genres, including portraiture, cityscapes and, most notably, still-life. A classical sense of balance pervades the works while their stark intensity feels entirely modern. Meziat’s paintings reveal an immense technical skill allied to a penetrating pictorial intelligence.
Renato Meziat has had sell out exhibitions in Rio de Janeiro and feature in private collections throughout South America. His work has sold successfully at Sothebys New York Latin American auctions.
