Pieter Krugel South African, b. 1958

Pieter J Krugel was born in 1958 in Ermelo, Mpumalanga South Africa. Growing up in a creative household, he followed his passion into graphic design and later video production before pursuing his entrepreneurial calling in the art world, where he owned several galleries.

His journey as a professional painter deepened after meeting his wife, internationally acclaimed artist René Snyman, in 2012. Inspired by classical traditions and the beauty of nature, Pieter now paints landscapes in the Western Cape, South Africa. When not outdoors, he creates still lifes in their studio overlooking False Bay on the Atlantic Ocean between the Cape Peninsula and the Hottentots Holland Mountains.

"My graphic background shapes the design of my paintings. When I paint in nature, there's a moment when you become one with creation - as if the light flows through you onto the canvas. It's a pure spiritual experience.”
