Gill Edwards is a contemporary mixed-media artist whose paintings explore colour, shape, pattern and the quiet beauty of everyday objects.
With a background in textile design, Edwards brings an instinctive understanding of colour and composition to her painting. Her work is created intuitively through layers of acrylic paint and handprinted collage papers, with scraping, scratching and removing as important as adding.
Inspired by ceramics, flowers, familiar objects and travel, Edwards reduces her subjects to simplified, flattened silhouettes, exploring the relationship between shape, colour and space.
Based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, she is currently exploring new colour palettes and pushing the possibilities of her painting.
