Jo Taylor: Natural Instinct

12 - 27 July 2025 Aldeburgh
About

We are delighted that after many years of exhibiting Jo's work to be holding a solo exhibition here in Aldeburgh for the first time in nearly 10 years. Jo is another of our artists we have shown continuously since the City Gallery days back in the late 90's.

Jo Taylor’s work captures the raw power and grace of animals, especially horses, with fluid lines in charcoal and mixed media. Natural Instinct reflects her deep connection to her subjects, blending anatomical precision with emotional depth. Whether depicting a charging bull or a resting horse, her confident strokes evoke movement, energy, and the unspoken bond between human and animal.

The exhibition is a self-portrait of Jo’s world. On horseback, she roams freely among deer and birds, becoming a ghost rider in cold mornings or a dreamlike warrior in evening light. On foot, she observes feral horses, sensing their quiet strength or alert energy. Walking the wild land with her hound, she captures the life around her.

For Jo Taylor, drawing is a natural instinct.
