Brita Granström and Mick Manning: Sea Interludes
Thompson’s Galleries are delighted to announce a double celebration this Easter weekend: the opening of Sea Interludes, a unique exhibition featuring the acclaimed Brita Granström and, for the first time at Thompson’s, her husband and fellow artist Mick Manning. Following the recent feature of their home in House & Garden, the gallery will also celebrate this with an installation inspired by their home.

Known for her evocative seascapes and intimate interiors, Brita Granström draws inspiration from daily walks along the East Coast, where the rhythms of the tides and changing seasons recharge her creativity. Aptly titled after Benjamin Britten’s Suffolk-set opera Peter Grimes, Sea Interludes captures these treasured moments by the sea, translating them into vibrant paintings and installations.

Adding a new dimension, the exhibition will feature elements from the Granström-Manning home in Berwick, including wallpapers from acclaimed designers St Jude's alongside other objects and textiles, offering visitors a glimpse into the environment that has nurtured over 30 years of artistic collaboration.
Mick Manning, a celebrated artist in his own right, contributes works inspired by nature and the wild creatures of the North East coast. Born in Bury St Edmunds and raised in Haworth, his evocative pieces complement Brita’s seascapes, creating a rich dialogue between land, sea, and home.

Marking Brita Granström’s fourth exhibition with Thompson’s Galleries, Sea Interludes promises an intimate and inspiring celebration of place, partnership, and artistic vision.
We look forward to welcoming you to this special exhibition at Easter in Aldeburgh.
