Mhairi McGregor RSW: To the Coast

Scottish landscape painter Mhairi McGregor presents a new collection of oil paintings in her highly anticipated London solo exhibition. McGregor fuses bright colours and playful forms with layers of contemplation to render vibrant landscapes that simultaneously enchant and intrigue. McGregor earned a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the Glasgow School of Art, where her mother taught textile design, in 1993. Over the course of a distinguished international career, the artist has continually mined inspiration from her native Scotland. Her extensive travels abroad are well- documented in the many paintings and exhibitions she has undertaken across Europe, Australia, Canada, and the United States. Each emergent body of work bears witness to the passion of her experience in a particular locale. The resulting compositions are visual meditations: every patch of oil is deliberately placed, every canvas meticulously constructed. Together, they eloquently testify to Mhairi McGregor’s compelling personal style — effervescent, accomplished, and simply beautiful to behold.
