Morag Muir begins each painting in a way that resembles casting roles for a play. Starting with a still life, she carefully selects the objects and characters that will inhabit the scene and shape it's narrative. From the bay windows of her Victorian studio overlooking the River Tay, she transforms everyday moments into beautiful yet mysterious, whispered conversations on canvas.
To My Love, perfectly illustrates her thoughtful arrangement of objects and figures. With each viewing, new details reveal themselves - such as the small Tesco in the bottom left corner - creating a sense of discovery and quiet humour. This layering of subtle elements brings fluidity and intrigue to the work, inviting the viewer to return again and again.
