Nick Botting and Oona Campbell
Thompson’s Gallery, Aldeburgh, is delighted to present a duo exhibition featuring the work of two distinctive voices in contemporary British painting, Oona Campbell and Nick Botting, on view from 4th - 19th July.
Bringing together two artists deeply connected to observation and place, the exhibition explores the atmosphere, rhythm and changing character of the British landscape through distinctly personal approaches to painting.
Oona Campbell’s evocative works are rooted in memory and seasonal experience, inspired by the rugged coastlines of Scotland, the pastoral countryside of Dorset and the wild moors of North Yorkshire. Painting from close observation and remembered encounters, her works capture fleeting shifts in weather, light and mood with a sense of freedom and emotional resonance.

Nick Botting’s paintings are driven by direct experience and the spontaneity of working from life. Whether depicting woodland, beaches or bustling social scenes, his instinctive brushwork captures the immediacy and atmosphere of a moment. Best known for his en plein air practice, Botting brings energy, movement and authenticity to each composition.

Campbell and Botting present a compelling dialogue between memory and immediacy, offering two distinctive yet complementary visions of landscape and lived experience.
