STEPHANIE SANDERCOCK - MEMBER, PENWITH SOCIETY OF ARTS

BIOGRAPHY

Stephanie Sandercock, recently elected full membership to the Penwith Society of Artists in Cornwall and the St Ives Society.

The Lancashire-born artist moved to Cornwall in 2014 and began painting full-time. She is influenced hugely by the Gwithian coastal rock that features regularly in her paintings along with an abstract ploughed field, a harbour wall, a turning tide or shapes of seaweed - beautiful scenes so often seen in the Cornish coast.

This Cornish rock is the centre of her work. It makes her feel "grounded, safe and supported" and this body of work that has gained recognition by the Penwith Society. Her paintings have a mysterious force within them. Sandercock uses a range of medium to capture the energy of the area. She buildes texture using plaster and muscovite mice to reflect the light and has emersed herself in her local environment.
