Christmas Exhibition 2023 | 2 December 2023 - 7 January 2024

Thompson’s Gallery, Aldeburgh are yet again holding our mixed artists’ exhibition in the run up to Christmas. This is our second largest exhibition of the year and acts as a showcase for the very best work from the artists whom we represent and who have proven themselves over many years to produce work of the highest quality and popularity amongst our clients. This year we have invited amongst others Nick Botting, Naomi Alexander, Giles Penny, Jessica Cooper, Brita Granstrom, Simeon Stafford, Jonathan Robertson, Robert E. Wells and Gordon Wilson, who was recently seen on the BBC teaching Dame Judi Dench to paint.

We have also taken in work by a new and very exciting artist, Darren Lynde Mann, who works out of the iconic Old Jet Studios here in Suffolk. Darren has had a lot of publicity recently having shown work at Christie’s and had his first solo exhibition in London. At Old Jet he has been able to start experimenting with larger canvases and now paints on stretched calico, using charcoal and emulsion. “I am particularly drawn to religious and Renaissance artwork. Behind every powerful, emotive painting or sculpture there is a story, a meaning that gives such depth to the artwork. I paint without really thinking too much about what I am painting; I paint how I feel, which I can’t really explain to anyone”.

In addition to the selection of contemporary artists we have also chosen work by 20^th Century artists as we as a gallery cover both the 20^th and 21^st Century. Two stunning works by Sir Terry Frost will be amongst the selection.
